COVID-19 Response and Plans

Dear WMBA family,

We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during the globalCOVID-19 crisis. We want to update you on how the Women's Mountain Bike Association is approaching this unprecedented time.

  • Information Sources: Our board of directors is staying up-to-date on the most current recommendations and orders from the CDC, WHO and all relevant government agencies.

  • Group Rides: We will take a fact-based approach to determine when and if it is safe to hold organized group rides. At this point we are continuing to do our due diligence to plan for the 2020 WMBA season, and we will share information on any postponement of the season as soon as we are able.

  • WMBA Parties: We will not host a kickoff party in May. This decision was informed by the current CDC guidance on large events, and the closure of many local facilities. We hope to host a large end of season party in September, and we look forward to celebrating with our community at that time.

  • 2020 Membership: Thank you to those of you who have already joined as WMBA members for this year. If we are unable to host our usual group rides this summer, we will extend currently paid memberships through the 2021 season.

  • Supporting Our Sponsors: We are working directly with our sponsors, most of which are locally-owned small businesses, to support them and their employees during this time, and we encourage all members of our WMBA family to do the same. Please check out our sponsors through social media to find out more about how you can support them.

  • Be Well: Please take care of yourselves and one another during this time. Ride your bike when you are able to do so safely. Engage in our community online. Pick up the phone and call a riding buddy you haven't seen in a while.

We also want to offer our heartfelt appreciation to the members of our WMBA family who are medical professionals, first responders and those who are maintaining essential community functions during this time. Thank you for all that you do to keep our community safe.

We hope to see you on the trails soon!

The WMBA Board of Directors,

Katie Branham, Teresa Cole, Leah Dolan-Kelley,

Eydie Elkins, Debi Kennedy, Emily Romero, Maria Wilcox
