Preparing for your first WMBA Group Ride

WMBA is so excited to see you at Thursday night group rides this summer! Here are some tips to help you prepare for your first group ride.

Group rides are a no pressure fun way to meet other women who ride bikes. Expect to ride the trails and meet some awesome people!

We recommend having your bike tuned and ready to go before your first group ride. Bike shops are usually very busy in the summer so we suggest dropping your bike off at least two weeks before your first group ride. WMBA's local bike shop sponsors are: Ascent Cycling, Bicycle Experience, Criterium Bicycles, Pro Cycling and Ted's Bicycles.

You should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled ride time. This will give you time to check-in, get your bike and gear ready, and meet your group before heading out on the trails.

What to bring:

  1. Bike (obvsiously)

  2. Helmet - it is required. You will not be allowed to ride without a helmet

  3. Water bottle or water pack

  4. Proper Shoes

After check-in you'll meet your group and ride guides. There are usually three ride guides, a lead, a mid and a sweep. The lead will make sure you're on the appropriate trails, the mid and sweep help keep the group together. WMBA rides are a no-drop ride, the group always stays together.

WMBA ride guides and members are expected to be encouraging and supportive of all riders. Don't worry if you're slow on the uphill or downhill or need to walk an obstacle, we're all out there riding to the best of our ability and we'll cheer each other on! If you need to stop for any reasons just talk to one of the friendly ride guides.

We can't wait to ride with you!
